The Arctic Monkeys are born from the meeting of Alex Turner (vocals, guitar), Jamie Cook (guitar), Andy Nicholson (bass) and Matt Helders (drums) in 2002 in Sheffield (United Kingdom). Alex Turner and Jamie Cook were neighbors in Sheffield. In 2001 for Christmas, they each receive a guitar. They master their instrument quickly and looking for other musicians in their school to form a group. Andy Nicholson is already playing bass and Matt Helders will learn the drums to complete the training. The singer Glyn Jones is not part of the group for several months and was replaced behind the microphone by Alex Turner. In June 2003, after a hard work of rehearsal and development, the Arctic Monkeys made their first steps on stage before a small audience in a pub in Sheffield.
